Honoring Sandrino’s Sacrifice Fund is proud to announce our Sixth Annual Golf Outing on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Pitman Golf Course in Pitman, NJ. The event will feature a morning tournament followed by a lunch banquet and an afternoon tournament followed by a dinner banquet at Bogey’s Café & Club.
Sergeant Alessandro L. Plutino, known to his family and friends as Sandrino, gave the ultimate sacrifice on August 8, 2011 when he was killed by enemy forces while conducting combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Honoring Sandrino’s Sacrifice Fund was established to honor our fallen hero and give back to our great nation's heroes and their families. Since established, the Fund has proudly donated over $227,000 to these such organizations. Below, please find a list of some of our main recipients.
v $65,000 to the 1/75 Sua Sponte Foundation: non-profit organization that directly supports the warriors and families of the 1st Ranger Battalion, specifically those wounded or killed in action. The organization also built and maintains the 1/75 Memorial at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, GA (www.175suasponte.org).
v $49,000 to Feherty’s Troops First Foundation: non-profit organization that works to provide meaningful assistance to our military that have been wounded while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan through several programs and events specifically designed for OIF/OEF combat-wounded service members and their families. v $39,000 to the Lead The Way Fund, Inc.: non-profit organization that supports disabled U.S. Army Rangers and the families of fallen Rangers (www.leadthewayfund.org).
v $20,000 to GallantFew Inc.: non-profit organization dedicated to reducing US Army Ranger veterans unemployment and homelessness as well as eliminate Ranger veteran suicide by a unique program of one-on-one mentoring (www.gallantfew.org).
v $13,000 to The Joshua Chamberlain Society: a grass roots charity that provides long-term support to veterans that sustained permanent combat injuries fighting the war on terror as well as long-term support to the children of veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice (www.stl.chamberlainsociety.org).
v $5,000 to Jared Allen’s Home For Wounded Warriors: foundation that provides financial assistance and support to injured military veterans by building handicap accessible homes to suit their individual needs.
v $5,000 to the Everett James Katzenberger Fund: Everett’s father, Staff Sergeant Jeremy Katzenberger, was Sandrino’s close friend who was killed in action on June 14, 2011 when Everett was just eight months old.
v Annual scholarship to the recipient of the Sgt. Sandrino Plutino Memorial Scholarship Fund at his alma mater Pitman High School.
v Annual scholarship to the recipient of the Pitman High School Sandrino Award: this award is presented to a PHS senior athlete that best embodies Sandrino’s qualities and ideals.
